The basic premise of the game is to be assigned cards adding up to 21. Each competitor is handed two cards. When a gambler is given a nine or less and an Ace they’ve been handed a soft hand. When the black jack player is dealt no Ace cards it is known as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been given to every player at the blackjack table, including the dealer, each black jack player is given the chance to make one of six actions:
Requesting another card (Hit): When a black jack player announces "hit me" the dealer will give them another card, if the adding of that card causes the value of the hand to exceed twenty-one the blackjack player will have lost and that is the end of the game, if the card pushes the value of the hand to twenty-one the player is the winner and if the value of the hand hasn’t yet achieved twenty-one they are still in the game.
Keeping the hand you’ve been given: If a black jack player is happy with the cards they’ll stand. As soon as this has happened the dealer will show their cards and the blackjack player who has accumulated twenty one or the nearest to 21 will come away with a win.
Doubling Down: A player may request to double down which increases the bet by one hundred percent they have placed. As soon as you’ve taken this action you can only be given one more card. The details of doubling down are normally out lined by the blackjack table or betting house rules so before competing make sure you’re comfortable with the casino game rules. If you’re playing at a web-based betting house this is usually quite easy.
